【2021】Conservation and sustainable utilisation of the oceans (events)

NTU supports or organises events aimed to promote conservation and sustainable utilisation of the oceans, seas, lakes, rivers and marine resources.

Evidence :NTU continues to support activities related to the protection of the oceans through teaching, research, practice, and supporting enterprises.

In order to enhance people’s interest in marine research, the NTU Institute of Oceanography encourages college students across the country to participate in special research projects every summer, receive scientific research training, practice offshore work, and enhance their experimental practice ability, so as to guide aspiring students to join marine research and related pragmatic work in the future.

NTU supported the startup project “Azure” that aims to solve the problem of marine garbage with science and technology, and develop sea-drift garbage collection robots.

NTU assisted the Ocean Conservation Administration on the 4-year “Taiwan Oleanonic ecosystems Monitoring Project.” By working closely with agencies across the fields, collecting fisheries and ecosystem data through professional research and development technology and monitoring the diversity and the changes in microplastics in the ocean.

NTU Institute of Fisheries Science held the “Coral Reef Conservation and Restoration Lecture”, which focused on the basic knowledge of coral restoration to its implementation and the subsequent water quality monitoring.
