Governance

Governance

NTU has the most comprehensive teaching and research capabilities and the highest international visibility among universities in Taiwan. It is only natural that NTU upholds “sustainable development” as its core value. Expertise of the teachers and students is combined with an interdisciplinary and systematic perspective to create a sustainable campus. NTU also regularly publishes USR reports to make a difference for sustainability of the local and international communities.

Endowment
Management and
Sustainable Investment

To fulfill its social responsibility, NTU’s Endowment Fund adheres to the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, incorporating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors into its investment decisions. The NTU Committee for Investor Responsibility comprises eight internal and external members with expertise in investment management and a strong reputation in wealth management. The Committee formulates investment guidelines, policies, and asset allocation principles for the following year based on the “NTU Directions for Investment Income and Expenditure Management.” For specific details, please refer to the NTU financial planning report for each year.。

Since 2019, NTU has gradually divested its holdings in highly polluting industries. Thanks to the joint efforts of student organizations like the Student Union's Sustainability Department and the Climate Action Society, along with the Financial Office, the university fully divested its endowment from high-pollution and high-carbon-emission industries by December 2020, becoming the first university in Asia to make such a commitment. Moving forward, NTU will continue to promote sustainable investing by directing its endowment funds towards companies and funds that benchmark against top sustainability performance standards.。

Accessible Campus

NTU is committed to improving both the physical and digital accessibility of its campus. This includes installing lighter sliding doors in accessible restrooms, leveling accessible pathways, and creating accessible seating areas in classrooms. Additionally, the university has enhanced the interactive features of the "NTU Campus Map" to provide optimal routes for those with mobility challenges.

Employment Plan for People with Disabilities

To protect the rights and interests of people with disabilities and provide employment opportunities for NTU students and alumni with disabilities, NTU established the “Employment Plan for People with Disabilities.” This plan aims to help individuals with disabilities to find suitable jobs within NTU, aligning with the principles of equality, inclusivity, and reasonable accommodation outlined in the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). As of the end of 2023, the number of individuals with disabilities employed by NTU reached 339.
In addition, in 2023, NTU issued the "「National Taiwan University Workplace Anti-Discrimination and Equality Statement」" to ensure that all faculty and staff receive the respect and equal treatment they deserve. Faculty and Staff Holistic Care Servic

In 2023, a total of 994 faculty and staff members received health checkups through the Good Liver Foundation’s health screening program and the low-dose computed tomography (CT) lung screening program jointly provided by NTU Hospital Cancer Center and Taipei City Hospital. After the checkups, six consultation sessions were provided, offering one-on-one guidance on diet, exercise, and health from professionals. For mental health, diverse counseling channels are available (including in-person, telephone, and online), with psychologists providing mental health consultation services.
