NTU's sustainable practices targets

National Taiwan University has set the sustainable goal of creating a car-free campus to reduce carbon emissions. The university prioritizes allocating road space for pedestrian and bicycle activities. To control the number of vehicles and bicycles entering the campus, it has established campus transportation management guidelines and formed a Traffic Management Committee to oversee campus transportation affairs. Furthermore, NTU has improved its shared bicycle dispatching system.

In addition to vehicle restrictions, the university is committed to reducing carbon emissions from transportation. It has set EV100 as a goal, gradually replacing official vehicles with green energy motorcycles. Electrically assisted bicycles are permitted on campus, and electric motorcycle charging stations have been installed, along with various shared transportation options. To encourage the use of public transportation and shared mobility solutions, the university offers free campus shuttle services and subsidies for shared transportation expenses. In 2022, a total of 6,154 students applied for these programs, collectively contributing to a more environmentally friendly transportation footprint.
