Local authority collab. re: planning redevelopment
National Taiwan University has established the Graduate Institute of Building and Planning, dedicated to nurturing professionals in urban planning. We emphasize local planning and development while safeguarding housing rights, urban and rural resilience, urban cultural revitalization, and promoting social diversity and spatial transformation.
To make a tangible impact at the grassroots level, our university team collaborates with communities to promote the concept of resilient communities and assist in spatial improvements. Through our courses, we guide students in understanding the concept of cooperative housing, and through fieldwork, we work hand in hand with local residents and government agencies to address challenges posed by urban development in six underutilized locations in Taiwan. Additionally, through workshops and partnerships with local organizations, we apply the principles of cooperative housing to meet the housing needs of residents, ensuring that young people can afford reasonable rents and actively pursuing the goals of housing justice and diverse coexistence.
