NTU has a total of 1,432 water dispensers. In various facilities such as classrooms, office rooms, conference rooms, student dorms, and gymnasiums on NTU campus, we provide free water dispensers for students, staff, and visitors. To ensure the safety and quality of the drinking water, NTU conducts water quality tests for drinking water in accordance with the Drinking Water Management Act by the Ministry of Environment. According to regulations set forth by the Ministry of Environment, the water quality of treated drinking water should be tested for the presence of coliform bacteria every three months, with a sampling rate of one-eighth of the water dispensers. The testing is carried out using the coliform bacteria testing method specified by the Ministry of Environment and is conducted by environmental testing and measurement institutions licensed by the Ministry of Environment.
In 2022, NTU outsourced the testing of 440 water dispensers in compliance with legal standards, achieving a 100% pass rate. In cases where the test results are not satisfactory, the responsible unit is required to post a "suspension of use" notice on the water dispenser and contact the manufacturer for maintenance. After a successful retest, the water dispenser can be put back into use. To ensure water quality and safety, NTU conducts additional monthly tests on approximately 100 water dispensers, maintaining a 100% pass rate in our self-tests.
NTU compiles external test reports and internal self-test reports on a quarterly and monthly basis, respectively. The results are made public, and the drinking water quality test records must be prominently displayed on the water dispensers (e.g., on the side of the machine) for inspection by the relevant authorities. The test reports must be retained for a minimum of 2 years.
