NTU's Water-conscious Planting (2023)

SDGs

NTU’s Principles for Water Resource Management and Reuse clearly stipulate that drought-tolerant tree species should be selected for campus landscaping to minimize irrigation water needs. The guidelines also mandate the use of lake water, foundation water, as well as recycled pool water and rainwater from buildings for irrigation and landscaping purposes, in alignment with the goal of water conservation. Additionally, the total green space on NTU’s campus spans approximately 40 hectares, with seasonal grass and flowers covering only 600 square meters (about 0.15% of the entire campus green space; see the red dots on the picture below). As a result, only a few areas require irrigation.
