NTU's Policy on Sustainable Seafood
National Taiwan University is committed to marine conservation and has been actively promoting sustainable eating. In 2022, the Dietary Coordination Committee established a policy prohibiting the use of shark fin in all on-campus events and dining functions, including strict bans on whale shark fins and shark fins. In the same year (2022), the university began encouraging catering vendors to use ingredients certified as environmentally friendly and animal-friendly, making it a criterion for vendor selection. To enhance students' and faculty members' awareness of sustainable eating, the university conducts an annual "Sustainable Eating" survey and publishes the results on its website. By providing consumers with a guide to sustainable ingredients, the university aims to contribute to marine conservation and protect marine biodiversity.
