Educational Program on Ecosystems

SDGs

Campus Tours

NTU provided campus tours regularly for visitors. The tours focus on the history as well as the ecosystem of the campus. There are roughly 15000 visitors annually who join these tours and learn about the biodiversity of the campus. Since the biodiversity is very rich at the NTU campus, introducing the flora and fauna on campus is the highlight of the tour. Visitors will learn about our NTU Campus Tree Protection Project, see how NTU restored the historic Liugongzun (irrigation canals that ran through the campus), and visit our ecological pond to see various fish, birds, and turtles. The tour is open to the public for free.

Experimental Farm Environmental Education Program

NTU Experimental Farm held many environmental education programs for the public. For the Crop section, the farm has been providing environmental education programs since 1997. Programs include an introduction to crop farms and their surrounding ecosystem as well as several DIY experiences using farm products. For the Horticulture section, the farm provided programs to the public like eco-friendly fruit farm tours, an introduction to a low-carbon fruit diet, and horticulture DIY.

Experimental Forest Nature Education

NTU Experimental Forest is open to the public to visit, providing leisure and ecosystem education at the same time. NTU Experimental Forest provided outdoor and natural education based on the natural and life science studies in Grade 1-9 Curriculum. By combining indoor theoretical learning and outdoor practice, students perform better in natural science studies but also may develop the attitude of protecting the ecology and environment.

BACT Program

The Biodiversity, Agriculture, and Culture of Taiwan (in short BACT) program provides an opportunity for international and NTU local students to learn about the valuable biodiversity, intensive agriculture, and Asian culture in Taiwan. This program has been held by the College of Bioresources and Agriculture (CBA), National Taiwan University since 2007. The 4-credit program is divided into four parts, namely lectures, institution visits or field trip, hands-on practice and team project. The most attractive part of the program is that you will have the chance to travel around Taiwan and see by yourself the transition of the scenery (tropical to temperate, city to nature, sea to mountains) from the 0 to 3,400 meters high elevation.
