NTU offers healthy and affordable food choices, as explained below
- CERTIFIED INGREDIENTS
To promote sustainable development goals and provide a diverse range of healthy food options for faculty, staff, and students, NTU encourages its affiliated food service providers to use ingredients certified under various sustainability criteria, including "Eco-Friendly Farming," "Low Additives," "Low-Carbon & Vegetarian," "Local Production," and "Resource Circulation." These criteria encompass CAS-certified agricultural products, organic certification, animal welfare certifications, halal certification, and traceable agricultural products. Additionally, the "use of certified ingredients" has been incorporated as one of the criteria for selecting contracted vendors, and relevant information will be made available on NTU's website.
- CALORIE INFORMATION
We publish the calorie information for meals available at campus restaurant and cafeteria for the reference of faculty, staff, and students.
- NTU FARM FRESH GOODS
The Agricultural Exhibition Center, operated by NTU Experimental Farm, offers a variety of farm-produced agricultural products, including freshly baked bread and pastries, as well as fresh milk, yogurt, animal welfare eggs, seasonal vegetables, ice cream, rice, herbal tea, and more. Additionally, the center sells locally recommended high-quality agricultural products from outstanding agricultural cooperatives across Taiwan at discounted prices, benefiting the university's faculty, staff, and students.
- MEAT QUALITY MANAGEMENT PROGRAM
In order to ensure food safety and enhance source monitoring for campus food, NTU initiated the "Campus Restaurant Pork and Beef Food Quality Management Program" starting in 2021. This program involves regular inspections of meat products used by food service providers to ensure the absence of residues of beta-adrenergic agonists, such as ractopamine. - RESTAURANT UTENSIL TESTING
NTU conducts weekly random tests on the starch and fat residues on utensils from various campus restaurants. The results of these tests must be posted at designated locations for public notice. Additionally, each semester, we hold two hygiene workshops that cover topics such as utensil management, methods for testing starch and fat residues, and NTU's hygiene inspection items, etc. - CAMPUS DISCOUNTS
NTU's convenience stores, student cafeterias and restaurants, including McDonald's, KFC, and Subway, provide a discount of approximately 10-15% for faculty, staff, and students.
